A close artistic collaboration forms a strong bond between Sabine Ritterbusch and the pianist Heidi Kommerell. They have worked together to present thematically focussed Lied programmes which they present in recitals, radio broadcasts and on CD.
Heidi Kommerell was born in Stuttgart, Germany. She studied with Professor Klaus Schilde in Detmold as well as in Professor Bruno Seidlhofer's Master Claas in Vienna, and went on to become the first recipient of the GEDOK award in the International Soloists' Competition in 1967. As a result of this, she has been invited to participate in numerous radio productions, recitals and orchestral concerts under renowed conductors. Since 1990 she has devoted much time to discovering the works of many lesser-known European composers whose work, through no fault of their own, has been under-appreciated or forgotten. She now brings their songs and piano music to an appreciative audience as part of her concert series "Music in Context". At the invitation of the Goethe-Institute she has also toured Europe, Latin America, Israel, the United States and Asia extensively. CD releases, Broadcast productions and live recordings of her projects have been developed in collaboration with public broadcasters such as the Westdeutscher Rundfunk and the Südwestrundfunk in Germany, as well as the Swiss, Irish and Israel national radios.
